IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS

NPLL is an all-volunteer organization, from the Board of Directors to the part-time helpers. Even though no one is paid, the safety and well-being of our kids is paramount.

Whether you are a team manager, assistant coach, or only plan to help once and a while, please complete the following to ensure you are Little League compliant. If you are not sure whether you’ll be helping or not, we encourage you to complete the one-time trainings anyway.

All volunteers must complete the following BEFORE working with any kids:

  1. Mandatory Background Check (yearly requirement)
  2. Mandatory CDC Concussion Training (one-time training)
  3. Mandatory Child Protection Training (one-time training)

1. MANDATORY BACKGROUND CHECKS

This is a yearly requirement for any adult who has contact with the players, which includes:

  1. Managers and coaches
  2. Team parent
  3. Umpires (including visiting District umpires)
  4. Scorekeepers and pitch-counters
  5. Board Members
  6. Any adult who assists with a practice or other team event - even if only once

Please email the with the subject "Background Check Request" and include in the email your full legal name and a copy/photo of a valid state or federal ID. You will receive an email from NPLL with a link to complete the forms online via the JDP, the background check vendor for Little League. The process is fast, free, secure, and mandatory every year.

2. MANDATORY CDC CONCUSSION TRAINING

This is mandatory for all youth sports, but it only needs to be completed once in your life. The direct link to the CDC concussion training for youth coaches/volunteers is here:

https://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html

Click “Launch the Heads-Up Course” on right and follow the prompts to complete the training.

A copy of the completion certificate must be in the Manager/Coaches binder. Save a digital copy in the event you need to re-print it again since it is good for life. If you don't meet this requirement, the umpire or the site administrator may remove you from the dugout.

If you have already completed this training, please provide a copy of the certificate to your team’s manager. You can access a previously earned certificate by logging in through the link above.
